EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon Features

Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) devices are the version of Emergency Locator Transmitter equipment used in ships and boats. For information about Emergency Locator Transmitter devices, see here

EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon, which transmits position and identity information to COSPAS – SARSAT satellites when emergency assistance is needed at sea and in oceans, enabling search and rescue teams to arrive promptly, does not only send signals to satellites; it also has terrestrial broadcasting capability.

EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon has been designed according to the most current maritime standard requirements, and has the capability to make distress calls to short-range radios by broadcasting audio sweep tone signals on the 121.5 MHz channel. But most importantly, EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon has Automatic Identification System (AIS) capability. In an emergency, EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon, which sends signals to satellites on the 406.031 MHz channel and to shore stations on the 121.5 MHz channel, can also make an urgent emergency distress call to all medium-range maritime vessels and ports with AIS broadcasting on 161.975 MHz and 162.025 MHz channels.

EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon has a battery capacity sufficient for broadcasting up to 50 hours. To replace the battery of EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon, which has a 5-year battery life, it is necessary to obtain an approved battery module from Pharus Tech or Pharus Tech authorized suppliers and replace the battery in synchronization with the PharusBeaconApp mobile application in an environment with internet connection, following the battery replacement instructions. This is because PharusBeaconApp monitors whether Poseidon's battery has been properly replaced and whether Poseidon has been restored to proper working status, transmitting real-time information to the Pharus Tech database and informing the user.

In this form, Poseidon EPIRB offers one of the most practical and most cost-effective solutions for battery replacement in the world.

Poseidon EPIRB is suitable for performing a maximum of 12 comprehensive Built-in Test procedures with the same battery. If this test count limit is exceeded, the battery will need to be renewed to ensure the device can broadcast for a sufficient duration in case of activation.

With its hydrostatic unit that guarantees automatic release without sinking below 4 meters depth, and its electronic capabilities, EPIRB PH7001 Poseidon is an Emergency Locator Transmitter device designed in accordance with the most current standards, classified as Category – I with guaranteed automatic activation & automatic release.

EPIRB devices are becoming increasingly critical in saving human lives as years pass. According to COSPAS – SARSAT data, 2487 people's lives were saved solely thanks to EPIRB equipment in 429 maritime accident incidents that occurred last year. For our informational article about the COSPAS – SARSAT system, see here.

Poseidon EPIRB is anticipated to complete its COSPAS – SARSAT certification and enter service in December 2024. The IMO SOLAS product type approval is targeted for March 2025. For more technical details, you can review the brochure of Poseidon EPIRB.
